All of your questions on juicing

If you have been following along on my Insta-stories, you would see that I am sharing pieces of our juicing journey. I have had several questions from so many of you and I am going to try an answer all of them here! Happy Juicing!

How we got into Juicing:
My sweet mother in law lost her fight with cancer this past April. I don’t use the word “fight” lightly. She went through several rounds of chemo and keytruda before the doctors gave up. Then we found other doctors who said they would give it one more try. They tried to completely clean her body of everything terrible (that we are programmed to think is OK), and let her body do what it was created to do, try and heal itself. This cancer clinic pulled out all the stops with a very intense protocol. We learned the importance of juicing, sprouting, buying organic, clean products and how to make your body work at it’s optimum level. On top of other painful therapies. Her body was too weak from the previous year of hoping deadly chemicals would do the job. But from all of that, we learned how to take care of our bodies in an effort to also heal our hearts.

Where I buy the ingredients:
Since I am all about convenience these days, I try to shop at as many pick up locations as possible. Harris Teeter and Wal-Mart are my current quick spots. But I prefer MOMS Organic. They have the best spread. There are a couple local grocery stores that I can grab a couple ingredients in a pinch, but are not my “haul” stores.

Why is it so good for you:
Bottom line, it WILL improve your overall health.
Easy to digest
Aids your digestive system
Boosts your immune system
High in anti-inflammatory compounds
Helps you to feel more energetic
Helps to reduce your risk of cancer
Helps to aid the fight against cancer
IF you are dieting, this is something you want to keep in your arsenal. Although it can also help you keep healthy pounds on as well if you eat a proper diet of other fatty raw foods.

How expensive is it:
Before I make my cart for my weekly pick up, I always check the sale ads. Which ever has the most Organic options on sale, or best price, wins. That takes about 5 minutes of app scrolling.
I will do a quick break down of my purchases last week.
Note: Everything we purchase for juice is ORGANIC.

1 lb Bag of Carrots- .99 (not on sale)
10 cucumbers- .79 each (not on sale)
1 lb bag of spinach- $5.69 (not on sale)
1 lb bag of Kale- $4.79 ON SALE
2 lb bag of apples- $4.29 ON SALE
1 bunch of dandelion- $1.79 ON SALE
1 bag of limes- $5.99 ON SALE
1 bag of lemons- $6.29 (not on sale)
1 bag of oranges- $5.49 ON SALE
2 Mangos- $1.49 Each

Depending on the variation and amount of juice you made for the week, this could EASILY last you one week of Juicing. If you juiced every morning for 7 days, the cost would be $5.97. How much for that Starbucks??

Recipes:
Each will make about 4 cups

Light and Fresh
2 cucumbers
2-3 apples
1 bunch of celery
3 medium carrots
4-5 handfuls of spinach
1 large orange
1 lime

If you want something sweet, but don’t want to eat chocolate:
2 apples
8 stalks celery
1 dash cinnamon

Immune System Booster:
1 small beet
3 carrots
1 large bunch of celery
1 stalk broccoli
2 cloves garlic
1 Lime
2 cucumbers
1 orange

Great Green Juice
4-5 stalks of Kale
2 cucumbers
1 lime
5-6 stalks of dandelion
handful of parsley
2 green apples
3-4 handfuls of spinach

Pros/Cons:
In your first couple days of juicing, the pro is you will feel great and refreshed. BUT, it will get your digestive tract moving more than what you are used to the first couple times. Which is not a bad thing at all! That sluggish feeling you have…there is a reason! Your gut controls so much. Your mood, immune system, diseases.
