Hitched Travel Blog :: Fall in Maine

I’ve heard great things about New England in the fall, so I crossed this off my bucket list by traveling there during peak fall foliage.

When: Summers in New England are definitely worth the trip, but the fall foliage was a sight to see!

Where you stayed:
• Boston, MA: Boston Park Plaza
• Gorham, NH: The Glen House
• Camden, ME: Lord Camden Inn
• Bar Harbor, ME: Bar Harbor Inn & Spa

Favorite Part: Relaxing and reading a book on the beach while getting a tan- my definition of paradise! Also, treat yourself to a spa day!

Best Food: Parish Café in Boston parishcafe.com; Havana in Bar Harbor https://www.havanamaine.com/

Know before you go: Fall is a VERY popular time of year. Our drive through the White Mountain National Forest was incredibly slow due to all of the traffic. Also, our hotel in New Hampshire was right next to the access road for the Mount Washington Auto Road, which meant there were some delays in getting there!

Attire: Fall sweaters, hats, booties. And of course nautical-inspired outfits for Maine!

Honeymoon Rating (From 1-10): 8/10. A great honeymoon for hikers and foodies!
Romance: 8/10. Again, this is a road-trip style vacation, and time in the car isn’t exactly romantic.
Fun: 10/10. A road trip also means that there is plenty of room for spontaneity!
